About US

MBBYB has been hosting boys and in Marshalltown, Iowa for the last 12 years.  We host grades 3rd through 8th in many of the outstanding facilities that Marshalltown has to offer.  We pride ourselves in running a well organized on time event that provides an outstanding experience for the athletes and spectators.  We host anywhere from 12 to 18 events during the basketball season and are 95% of the time sold out.

tournament director

Brynjar Brynjarsson, currently assistant coach at Marshalltown High school and former head coach at Marshalltown Community college.  Brynjar has 25 years of coaching experience that include 18 years of college coaching.  Starting out at Iowa State under Larry Eustachy back in 1999 as a video coordinator experiencing back to back Big 12 championships.  After one year as an assistant at MCC, moved on to the NCAA Division 1 level at University of Idaho for 3 years.  After leaving Idaho, he became the head coach at MCC for the next 14 years and currently serves as an assistant coach at MHS.


Tournament Rules


     Game Rules for All Divisions 
Only the head coach may stand during live play
Technical Fouls – Other team shoots 2 free throws and possession of ball.
 Any flagrant foul by a player will require player to sit for rest of game
18 minutes half’s
All games will start 3 minutes after game prior
If a court falls behind by 10 minutes, we will play 2x17 minute half’s with a 1 minute half time, until games are back on schedule
 Clock will stop last minute in 2nd half – unless a team is leading by 15pts. Or more
 Bonus, 1 and 1 on 7th team foul
  2 Shots on the 10th team foul
3 points are counted as 3 points
Each team gets 3 timeouts per game (30 seconds each)
Overtime = 1 minute (clock will stop). If game is still tied, sudden death.
IF TEAM IS WINNING BY 20 POINTS OR MORE WITH 2 MINUTES LEFT THE GAME IS OVER
